Bipolar Social Club Membership Guidelines

The Bipolar Social Club is an organization of people with bipolar illness, created to enable us to share our bipolar journeys and to help each other learn more about the condition. Our email list has over 300 members. We also do occasional Zoom meetings and in-person meetings in select cities. Here are some guidelines for our community.

  1. This group is only for people with bipolar illness.
If you are curious about bipolar or have a loved one with bipolar illness, explore the website for helpful resources.

  2. Practice kindness and respect.

Differences in experience or opinion are natural, but all interactions must be conducted with compassion and without judgment. Treat others with the care and sensitivity you would want them to treat you.

  3. Anonymity is paramount.

All members must respect the anonymity of others. Don’t disclose personal details shared in the group—both online and in person—with people outside the community.

If you have a concern about your anonymity, consider using a gmail account that doesn’t include your real name.

  4. General fundraising is not allowed.

You can fundraise and promote for causes that are focused on bipolar illness. Please do not fundraise for other illnesses and causes, as this would create excessive traffic unrelated to our charter.

  5. Share constructively.

Share experiences and advice with the intention of offering support rather than directing others. Do not attempt to offer medical advice. You can, however, share your own experiences with what medical professionals have told you.

  6. Provide feedback when guidelines aren’t followed.

Members are encouraged to let the moderators know when these principles aren’t followed. The moderators will address issues to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
